SUMMARY: Provides clerical and physical support for all voter registration and election procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
® Greet and assist the public in person and vial phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
® Accept and process voter applications, reviewing for accuracy, and other daily voter registration work.
® Assists with training classes for election workers from schedule to curriculum.
® Travels to downtown post office to retrieve daily mail.
® Sorts and meters daily mail and takes to mail room.
® Meters outgoing mail ballot packets and takes to downtown post office.
® Performs daily import and exports to the Secretary of State’s Office.
® Edit and create forms specific to each election.
® Create location postings from previous elections.
® Accepts and processes candidate campaign finance reports.
® Process mail ballot applications and mail Official Ballot to voter.
® Assists with review and proofing of ballot.
® Conduct VDR Training for Deputy Registrars.
® Assist in setting up and breaking down of polling locations and training classes.
® Assist in programming elections and printing of ballots.
® Receive all voting equipment after polls have closed.
® Assist with tabulation of election results.
® Report election results to Secretary of State on election night.
® Assist with Early Voting Ballot Board and Signature Verification Committee.
® Prepare election supply bins, cord bins, signage, etc. for deployment to polling place.
® Prepare ALL voting equipment for deployment to polling place.
® Maintain complete and accurate records through database spreadsheets.
® Travel to election sites as needed to deliver supplies and/or troubleshoot equipment.
® Troubleshoot equipment problems via telephone with election poll workers.
® Assist with maintaining record retention schedules.
® Work polling locations as needed.
® Cross train with other employees and have initiative to help others.
® Attend training and conferences to maintain, enhance and/or improve job skills.
® Maintain neutrality with parties and candidates.
® Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires exceptional skills in communication, problem solving, and decision-making, prioritizing work and computer skills. Be a self-starter and have initiative. Have superior people skills, be pleasant and courteous and possess a great deal of patience when working under pressure. Strong knowledge of: general office practices and procedures, county records, read and understand instructions, analyze and interpret data, work independently in the absence of specific instructions and establish and maintain effective working relationship with other county employees and the general public.
Working Conditions:
During election cycles, there will be extended, irregular and weekend hours for voting.
Deal with public scrutiny and stressful situations.
Occasional lifting of material and/or equipment over 50 pounds.
Occasional travel is required.

Starting Salary: $38,000 annually + benefits
