BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) is looking for a Deputy Controller for its Erwin, TN location!

Working in the BWXT Nuclear Fuel Services division, the Deputy Controller will assist the Controller in directing all finance and accounting functions and ensure compliance with all financial policies and government regulations. This position has 8 direct reports consisting of Accountants and Financial Analysts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct, and review the Accounting Department operations and activities.
• Direct the execution of the financial accounting cycle.
• Generate BWXT's financial reports in a timely manner.
• Evaluate and assess all phases of the capital assets program.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
• Collaborate on division projects by providing financial analysis and project estimates.
• Provide internal oversight and review of direct reports ensuring department remains audit-ready.
• Interact with internal and external auditors.
• Design, develop, and implement financial systems and their modifications and enhancements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply company guidelines, SOX, GAAP, and government regulations.
• Demonstrable superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly initiative-taking and self-directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Must be willing and able to report to our office located in Erwin, Tennessee. This is a fully on site position!
• U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• A CPA or MBA.

The base salary range for this position in Virginia at the start of employment is expected to be between $128,000 and $189,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
