**Job located in Sisseton SD**
Starting pay $14.85, but may increase depending on experience.
General Statement of Duties
Under the general direction of the County Auditor, is responsible for performing a variety of clerical, fiscal, and supervisory duties by performing the following duties.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Auditor in the performance of statutory duties. Serve as Department Head in absence of the Auditor.
- Maintain personnel records.
- Process payroll on monthly basis. Issue payroll advance checks to appropriate employees.
- File quarterly tax and unemployment reports.
- Complete year-end tax documents including W-2's, W-3's, 1099's, 1096's.
- Enter vouchers and prepare warrant checks for all bills.
- Code and enter all miscellaneous receipts.
- Apportion all tax collections to appropriate taxing districts.
- Monthly audits of all cash and cash items in the hands of the County Treasurer.
- Balance monthly with County Treasurer and prepare accurate monthly reports.
- Assist in the yearly financial statement and budget process.
- Maintain computer records that pertain to Budget and Revenue accounts. Make manual entries when necessary.
- Ensure balance sheets and ledger sheets are in balance. Correct errors when necessary.
- Send monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports out to necessary departments.
- Track court appointed attorney liens and payments.
- Track county medical liens and payments.
- Process liquor license applications.
- Assist customers with building permit, variance or conditional use permit applications, and prepare permits for zoning officer to sign.
- Assist customers with voter registration.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification required.
- Experience as a bookkeeper or secretarial position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
