Jefferson County Assessor’s Office is hiring for a full-time (40 hour work week) Property Tax Appraiser. Wages are dependent upon experience. For non-certified appraisers, wages start at $18.56. For certified Appraisers, wages start at $19.86. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Certified Property Tax Appraiser or ability to certify within 18 months of hire; Valid Driver's License
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to 1) visually inspect and appraise 20 percent of all improved and unimproved real/personal property within Jefferson County boundaries each year for tax assessment purposes; 2) analyze and verify market data to determine market values for different types of property in Jefferson County each year; 3) measure new construction homes and buildings; 4) defend and uphold property values, Idaho statute, and appraisal practices in an assessment appeal; and 5) research and answer questions from the public regarding properties and property assessments.
Essential abilities:
- Must work well independently and on team
- Proficient math skills including calculating ratios, fractions, percentages, basic operations, and geometry
- Computer proficiency, including Assessor's Office software and common office software
- Ability to read and interpret Idaho laws and rules
- Effective written and oral communication
- Good customer service skills
- Physical ability to walk, lift, bend, kneel, and climb while measuring new construction dwellings in different weather conditions including: snow, mud, rain, wind, and heat
- Ability to sit in a car for long periods of time and/or sit with intermittent moving in an office environment
- Ability to work effectively in an open space area with noises and minimal privacy
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail

Pay: $18.56 - $22.83 per hour
