This position will travel daily to customer sites located in the Mid-Atlantic Region to include Bethesda MD, Germantown MD, Baltimore MD and Swedesboro NJ. Overnight travel is required to service customers in Franklin, MA and other states as necessary. This position is considered a hybrid position working both at the Thermo Fisher Scientific Depot Baltimore Location and traveling to customer sites. As such, this position will be provided a Fleet (Company) vehicle to allow for daily travel to multiple customer locations in the defined service area. Some overnight travel will be expected to service customers and participate in training programs.
Primary duties include performing in-house (depot location) and field servicing (customer sites) of Cold Storage and Temperature Control products (baths, circulators, re-circulators, chillers, freezers, centrifuges, etc.) This includes performing evaluation, repair, and testing of customer equipment. Also, required to identify service resource and tooling needs while alerting management of product repair trends.
  • Work directly with customers and the commercial sales team, ensure timely and accurate responses to end users, provide outstanding overall service to the customer community, coordinate and synchronize efforts across cross-functional support teams.
  • Receive customer service requests for installations, calibrations, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs, and promptly contact the customer to schedule services.
  • Maintain laboratories, supplies, and lab equipment according to procedure, including ensuring equipment is calibrated and repaired.
  • Provide professional communication via phone and email to our customers and internal support teams.
  • Provide technical assistance or training for assigned products or technologies to field service engineer, sales or support channels (internal or external) to enable channel competence.
  • Connect with and provide support to research and development, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and marketing groups.
  • Fully test and calibrate completed repairs, and provide comprehensive test data, documentation, and service reporting.
  • Role will Support On-Site Service for Key account Customers.
  • Role will be split between Depot Support and Key Accounts as identified by Leadership.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years experience HVAC/R or graduate from a related technical/trade school.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and certification requirements, preferred.
  • Proficient use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills with ability to learn service procedures and software tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and procedures, understand and act on customer requests, and respond to issues with creative problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and customer focus to deliver excellent customer service including always maintaining a professional appearance.
  • High ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct.
  • Current and valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. from floor to counter height every day.
