Dental Lab Model Room Technician

General Description of Function:

The Dental Laboratory Technician is a member of the Dental Laboratory team who, upon prescription from a dental clinician, constructs custom made restorative and dental appliances. The Dental Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the fabrication, alteration or repair of dental devices such as dentures, crowns, bridges, inlays or appliances.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

• Read prescriptions and specifications received from dentist.
• Pour positive models from impressions supplied by dentists using liquid stone mixture.
• Trim models with bulk and or fine trimmer.
• From hardened model, saw out appropriate tooth that requires restoration.
• Attach to articulator, verifying the bite of the patient to insure proper fit of the final product.
• All fabrication steps and applicable tools are outlined in the Technical Team Policies for Model Prep.
• Ensure all steps are followed, in order, to insure consistent, accurate results.
• Review final work and check completely that all quality standards as well as esthetics, have been met before passing the work to the next technician.
• Ensure the responsible use, safety and care of equipment.
• Ensure preventive maintenance requirements are met and that work area is kept clean.
• Participate in Company sponsored training and meetings as required.

• Attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
• All other duties as assigned.

· Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve using past experience and success to gauge the best steps on future cases.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

· Both Entry Level and Experienced Technicians are encouraged to apply.

Hazardous Materials or Equipment Used:

· Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work tasks that require and follow safety guidelines as stated in Apex Safety & Health Plan Manual.

· Utilize relevant materials, supplies and tools to produce product in the Dental Laboratory.

Physical Requirements:

· Regularly required to walk, sit, stand and/or reach.

· Manual dexterity which allows the individual to grasp and operate small hand tools/equipment and use their hands and fingers and to produce precision product is required.

· Regularly required to push, pull, lift and/or carry 0-40 lbs.

· Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
