Job Title: Dental Clinic Manager
Department: Dental
Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer
Status: Full Time Exempt
Date: 12/21/2023
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Dental Clinic Manager is responsible for the direct oversight and management of the Dental Department of Kahuku Medical Center’s Rural Health Clinic (RHC). The Dental Clinic Manager directs the daily operations of the Dental Clinic clinical practices, regulatory compliance, safety and standards of care, and administrative practices. The Dental Clinic Manager is a member of the Department Head Team, the Patient Care Committee, and participates in various leadership meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains newly hired staff for the RHC Dental Clinic department.
  • Oversees the scheduling, assignments, daily workflow, and productivity of the Dental Clinic department.
  • Oversees the daily functions and operation of the Dental Clinic providers and staff.
  • Performs constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensures all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, safety program requirements, corporate compliance program, standards of conduct, all applicable statutes, rules, and all regulations are upheld.
  • Assist in the development of annual Dental Clinic department operational, statistical, and capital budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of quality dental care and services.
  • Lead and direct the dental program’s quality improvement initiatives. Ensure metrics for clinical outcomes are reviewed on a consistent basis, and that clear guidance/direction is provided for ongoing improvements.
  • Works with KMC Administration on the development and expansion of new dental programs by advising on equipment purchases and construction needs.
  • Ensure all patient records, charts and related documentation are maintained current and consistent with best practices and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates with the Finance Department to ensure all providers are properly credentialed with various insurance carriers.
  • Ensures financial patient accounting activities are up to date and reflect any changes in fees or patient discounts.
  • Minimize risks to the organization by monitoring trends, managing issues, coaching staff, and ensuring compliance with all clinical protocols and quality guidelines.
  • Facilitate and document monthly department meetings.
  • Build strong relationships and strategic partnerships with various partners in the community.
  • Analyze and communicate complex data, clinical information, quality outcomes, business needs and pertinent issues in an objective and straightforward manner.
  • Solve problems and make critical patient and/or management decisions supported by analysis, clinical knowledge, and critical data.
  • Actively pursue grants and other funding opportunities to continually make improvements to the dental program at Kahuku Medical Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s electronic medical record and related software.
Education and Experience:
REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Minimum 3 supervisory experience
PREFERRED
Bachelor’s Degree
7 years of dental experience
5 years supervisory dental experience
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
