National Career College is currently seeking a Dental Assistant Instructor/Program Coordinator. The position involves all aspects of lecture and laboratory experiences of students enrolled, including instruction, organization, continuous review and revision, and planning for evolving practice skills, and the general effectiveness of the Dental Assisting program. This assignment also includes participation in activities assuming leadership roles both within the department and in the institution as a whole; collaboration across disciplines and the leveraging of student support resources; and participation in ongoing professional development. The assignment may be day, evening, or off campus and is subject to change as needed. The ideal candidate for this position embraces the overall mission of National Career College with a clear, focused commitment to supporting teaching and academic excellence and student learning and success through the work of the Dental Assisting Program.
Duties:
- Teach one or more subjects within the Dental Assistant program curriculum.
- Complies with Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver lecture and lab demonstrations as outlined in curriculum, facilitate class discussions.
- Monitor all invasive procedures during lab maintaining OSHA and CDC mandated guidelines, directly supervise daily activities and tasks for students.
- Ensure students conceptual understanding of learning objectives and skills.
- Demonstrate effective teaching skills and conduct tutorial sessions as needed.
- Encourage use of support and resource systems including student services, library, and other student support.
- Track and advise students of their academic and attendance progress, ensure accuracy of records.
- Monitor student dress code and professional behavior.
- Seek alternatives to improve student outcomes, reducing attrition, and improving retention.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of National Career College students.
- Actively participate in faculty staff meetings and in service trainings.
- Work collaboratively and in direct consultation with Director of Health Education Programs, Associate Director, and Campus Director.
- Follow State requirements for RDA Continuing Education units.
- Ability to work with computers, and use the Internet and interactive technologies to engage students (where academically appropriate).
