Delivery Driver

West Point Ford is looking to hire for our Parts Delivery Driver position.

1. Loading and Unloading: Delivery drivers are responsible for loading the goods onto their delivery vehicle. This may involve lifting and stacking boxes, crates, or other types of packages. Upon reaching the destination, they also handle the unloading process.

2. Route Planning: Before embarking on their delivery route, drivers often use GPS systems or navigation apps to plan the most efficient route. They consider factors like traffic, road closures, and weather conditions to ensure timely deliveries.

3. Driving Safely: Delivery drivers operate vehicles of various sizes, from small vans to larger trucks. They drive safely and adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.

4. Delivering Packages: Once they arrive at the destination, Delivery Drivers verify the accuracy of the delivery details and then hand over the packages to the intended recipient. They may need to obtain signatures, scan barcodes, or take photos as proof of delivery.

5. Communication: Good communication is essential for Delivery Drivers. They might need to contact customers to provide estimated arrival times or coordinate specific delivery instructions.

6. Problem Solving: Delivery drivers sometimes encounter challenges such as difficult-to-find addresses, locked gates, or inaccessible buildings. They need to think on their feet and find solutions to ensure successful deliveries.

7. Managing Records: Many Delivery Drivers use handheld devices or apps to record information about their deliveries, including timestamps, recipient signatures, and any issues encountered during the delivery process.

8. Vehicle Maintenance: Delivery drivers are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and proper functioning of their delivery vehicles. This includes regular vehicle checks, refueling, and reporting any mechanical issues.

9. Customer Service: Delivery drivers are often the face of the delivery company for the customers. They should provide friendly and professional service, answer basic questions, and address concerns or complaints in a courteous manner.

10. Adhering to Regulations: Depending on the type of goods being transported, Delivery Drivers might need to follow specific regulations, such as those related to the transportation of hazardous materials or perishable goods.

11. Time Management: Efficient time management is crucial for Delivery Drivers to ensure that they complete their routes within the designated timeframes and meet delivery deadlines.

*Operating a forklift

* Maintaing the truck/delivery vehicle

* Participate in all available training programs

* Must be able to lift up to 100lbs occasionally
