Receiving Team: Pick-Up Driver

Position Summary:

The receiving team pick-up driver’s primary role is to pick up donations from various donors within a 20-30 mile radius and unload them to their respective location at Hand Up Network. Various donations include small to large furniture, clothing, housewares, décor, small to large appliances, and more. The driver will make decisions using set standards to determine if an item is unusable and should not be picked up. Sorting scrap metal with occasional runs to the metal recycler or the landfill will also be necessary. Occasionally, goods and supplies will need to be loaded at Hand Up Network and delivered and unloaded at offsite locations as well. Other duties may include sorting and moving merchandise in the building as well as simple cleaning duties, light building and vehicle maintenance, or other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Contact donors via phone to make needed pick up arrangements.
• Drive a box truck to donors’ houses and/or businesses, using GPS guidance if needed.
• Load various donations such as small to large furniture, small to large appliances, clothing, housewares, etc. on a box truck using various dollies, straps, or other necessary tools.
• Prepare and/or distribute donation receipts.
• Interact with customers and donors in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Make decisions within guidelines to screen items to be donated.
• Unload the donations off the truck to their respective locations in the building.
• Sort scrap metal to optimize recycling financial gain.
• Hook/unhook and load/unload trailers as needed to transport needed items to the landfill or to the metal recycler.
• Assist with unloading donations in our drive-through donation lane.
• Daily cleaning of donation intake lobby and donation drive-through lane.
• Use a two-way radio communicate when needed.
• Keep organization’s vehicles clean, smoke-free, and organized.
• Perform minor vehicle maintenance or transport vehicles to a repair facility for routine maintenance, repair, or state inspection.
• Keep a vehicle maintenance log and perform routine vehicle inspections.
• Assist with processing and sorting merchandise within given time standards.
• Assist with pricing merchandise and moving to the store.
• Comply with all safety procedures, laws, and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Punctuality, Regular Attendance, and Dependability a must.
• Ability to problem solve, think outside the box, and create solutions when needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, and move for 5 – 8 hour shifts
• Ability to walk up and down stairs regularly
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Excellent Driving Record

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
