Shift: Rotating


We are seeking deckhands to join our crew aboard the Beauport Cruiselines! Reporting to the Captain, this position is responsible for performing all necessary duties, tasks and assignments as directed. In the absence of the Captain, this position will report to the first mate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Primary function and majority of time will be spent conducting vessel maintenance, completing all designated cleanup aboard the ship.
  • Weather permitting - scrubbing, washing windows, chipping paint, and painting the exterior of the vessel.
  • Take pride in the vessel’s appearance.
  • Behave and act in a professional manner when interacting with internal crew, and external guests.
  • Practice safety at all times, complying with all company regulations and procedures.
  • Strive to give prompt, "First Class" service to all guests aboard the Beauport Cruiselines.
  • Contribute equally to the team in all areas of the job.

Experience and Skills:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for vehicle/passenger deck and passenger
  • Cabin.
  • Ability to recognize when equipment is not operating in a proper manner.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of personal protection and safety equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools for cleaning and general maintenance.
  • General knowledge of nautical terms, commands and signals; principal knots.
  • Ability to interact with customers, and fellow employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and lift lines weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to function effectively under time constraints and in emergency situations.
  • Resistance to motion sickness.
  • Beauport Hospitality reserves the right to perform pre-employment substance abuse testing in compliance with Coast Guard regulations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Work will take place on the vessel, including all areas, interior and exterior of boat, exposure to sun, heat, cold and changing weather conditions, as well as in an office environment
