COMPENSATION $25-$40/HR

Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship is a large maritime training organization, in Piney Point, MD. We are looking for a Deck Instructor to become part of our team! We teach entry and officer level maritime deck classes. All course material is provided to the instructors.

Summary of Position

Deck Instructors teach assigned courses in accordance with the provided curriculum. We value our instructor’s expertise and encourage feedback and enhancements to our courses. As you are the subject matter expert, this position occasionally requires working with a curriculum development team. As a Deck Instructor at a maritime school, you will be working with a very diverse group of students; with various education levels, job titles, ages, and ethnicities.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in public speaking

• Mid-level courses require at least 2 years of maritime experience as a Bosun or higher level; Military experience as Boatswains Mate or higher

• Upper level courses require at least 1 year of maritime experience as OICNW; Equivalent Military Officer ratings

• Equivalent Military time can be evaluated; must have at least 2 years of sea services onboard vessels of at least 500 GT

• Qualified military ratings include: Boatswains Mate, Operation Specialist, Quartermaster, any Officer of the Navigational Watch
