Job Description

The finishing team is responsible to prepare in-process and completed parts for their next operations. This includes using appropriate tooling to correct any imperfections and generating the final surface finishes so the parts meet our quality and customer's expectations. The team works with parts made of aluminum, various high-temp alloys and steel. Strong hand/eye coordination, artistic skills and attention to detail are critical components to this role. People who do well in this department are those who are self-motivated in a fast-paced environment and managing their own workstation. Willing to train the right candidate.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Have general knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain various types of finishing equipment including grinders, sand
  • and bead-blasters, polishers and part markers.
  • Interpret and work from complex drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Follow all relative ISO 9001 procedures.
  • Trim, scrape or deburr parts using hand tools.
  • Grind, sand, clean and polish manufactured components to provide final part finish requirements using hand/power tools.
  • Verify quality of finished work pieces.
  • Clean, dry, mark and bag parts.
  • Utilize small hand tools to remove metal shavings from the interior and exterior of machined parts.
  • Return all tools to their proper location at the end of the shift and to maintain a clean work area.
  • Responsible for some assembly.
  • Record an accurate log of job times and specifications for audit report.
  • Follow all established safety procedures.
  • Perform other jobs as assigned by the shop and/or area leaders.
  • Notifying area leader when work received does not meet the specifications required by previous operations.

Education / Experience

  • A technical certificate/ diploma from a technical college / high school / trade school program in a subset of metal manufacturing, fabrication or metal arts is preferred, but not required.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of grinding tools, including their use and maintenance, as well as knowledge of the raw materials used is required.
  • Competency reading blueprints and shop math skills.
