We are currently seeking a Dean of Academic Affairs. In this role, you will be responsible for the activities of the academic divisions of the university. AGM University serves a diverse student population, offering bilingual education to the community for traditional and non-traditional students.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership, from a campus level as well as a university-wide perspective, for the development of Academic planning and programming designed to improve student outcomes. This role is based in Orlando, FL.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise all academic programs and activities designed and developed by Deans, Directors of Academic Departments, and all other academic units.
- Coordinate and promote the implementation of diverse teaching alternatives, including distance education supported by technology to increase the effectiveness of the learning process.
- Implement a plan for the evaluation and development of faculty and staff, in compliance with university policies.
- Oversee the operation of Academic programs, the preparation of Academic proposals, technical education, continuing education, learning services and resources, academic guidance, amongst others.
- Manage and promote the development of Academic and scientific research for the university.
- Manage and support procedures leading to the design, establishment, and development of Academic programs.
- Supervise the processes of licensing and accreditation, including specialized accreditations in collaboration with other members of Academia.
- Ensure compliance with the procedures governing the use and conservation of faculty records and credentials.
- Promote the search for external funds and grants in support of the university.
- Ensure compliance with the manuals and procedures of the academic area, according to the academic rules and policies of the university.
- Supervise and evaluate compliance with the Learning Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness program following the guidelines of the university appraisal model.
- Supervise the library and virtual library services, and ensure the development, updating and availability of the necessary information resources, both printed and electronic, to support teaching and research work.
- Promote mission-based planning and resource allocation in the results of appraisal activities.
- Collaborate with Deans to identify and explore issues that affect student learning and/or the student experience across the University and jointly develop proposals that address the issues.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Doctorate degree in Education or related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in postsecondary education in functions related to academic programs and services.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (fluent) with the ability to communicate complex information simply, both verbally and written required.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective communication with university leaders, staff, and students.
- Excellent leadership and motivation skills.
