Summary:

  • Candidate must be located in the Western Half of the US
Create, implement and achieve consistent plan for profitable growth in assigned marketing areas by increasing market share,
improving price positioning, improving product mix, managing customer portfolio, and managing expenses. Achieve specific profitability
targets based on an excellent understanding of the marketplace in close cooperation with other company sales channels.
Continuous development of field sales team.
Functions:
Sales Management:
Prepare and implement individual and team action plans to meet/exceed sales and performance objectives. These action plans should include, but not be limited to regional fleet development and dealer growth, new and retread. They should also include any other customer solutions Continental can provide such as Digital Solutions.
Ensure all team members develop and implement effective and efficient individual activity plans to support goals.
Frequently analyze current sales position vs objectives and implement necessary changes to stay on track with objectives.
Direct sales groups toward priority targets, customers, or objectives as the environment or market changes.
Analyze pricing and volume proposals from the field to ensure they are in line with corporate margin objectives.
Ensure sales group utilizes all available sales tools including CRM, ContiAdvantage and ContiTrack2 for product performance monitoring.
Strategy:
Create and implement an effective strategy that is aligned with and meets or exceeds senior management’s expectations for profitability and growth within the business area.
Consults and advises management on new potential strategies or key market information that could be used to adapt current strategies.
Work closely with Sales Operations to analyze sales mix and profitability align with current strategies.
Strategic Partner Relations:
Directly manage customer relationships with key principals and managers of current strategic business partners.
Aggressively pursue opportunities within current customer base to improve our vendor / customer relationship
Maintain and actively pursue new opportunities for strategic partners at the dealer level for new and retreading sales.
Direct group to support KAM/SAM/OE vertical to ensure we are providing top level customer service
Retread Development:
Create, Implement, and Maintain strategy and action plans for improving retread sales and profitability.
Customer Service:
Direct sales groups toward maintaining high level of customer service and approval.
Collaborating with training department to integrate our customer’s teams into Continental lead training seminars.
Employee Development:
Leadership: Manage team by leading from the front, directing, and coaching. This includes giving direct reports regular direct feedback on their job performance vs expectations.
Hiring & Retaining: Responsible for building a strong sales team by attracting, retaining, and motivating field employees that support our core values and long-term stability and growth for the company.
Employee Development: Responsible for making sure the employees on the team have the optimal environment for professional career growth within the company. This includes one on one coaching, scheduling training, and mentoring employee development paths.
Employee Dialogues: Ensure that employees receive adequate feedback on their performance via midyear and year end reviews. This includes formally setting, monitoring, and reviewing KPI objectives in the systems. Also, identifying potential career paths, opportunities, and development needs.
Succession Planning: Developing and planning for employee’s future growth. Identifying strong performers and potential positions. Identifying and training a potential replacement for the Dealer Sales Manager role.
Responsible for creating, implementing, and reviewing performance improvement plans for any employees not meeting expectations.
Administrative tasks:
Customer Request Approvals
Expense Budget and Reporting
Monthly Operational Reviews
Additional Functions:
Monitor and Control expenses.
Monitor and analyze business on a continuous basis and implement any corrective action. Provide market intelligence by obtaining competitive information. Analyze, define and improve price positioning and provide general market insight.
Ensure policies and standards (both internal and external) are observed.
Your profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree and 5+ years related experience OR 10+ years related experience if no Bachelors Degree
This position is only open to current Continental employees. External candidates will not be considered for this role.
4+ years of Tire Sales experience
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Leads with courage, overall business knowledge/expertise
Thinks strategically and creates strategic options
Role model for open communication and conflict resolution
Leads change, demonstrates adaptability
