Utz Quality Foods is seeking a DayShift Packaging Supervisor to join our team of manufacturing professionals at the 101 Kindig Lane facility located in Hanover, PA. This position is responsible to supervise the execution of packaging requirements as directed by the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises packaging operations of up to 80 full-time and temporary personnel in an orderly execution of the schedule.
- Maintains a constant line of communication with the Shift Manager and Plant Manager, communicating downtime, production difficulties and product overflow.
- Monitors processes and the environment to ensure food safety practices and all applicable requirements of the SQF system are being followed.
- Evaluates individual performance and trains personnel to ensure standards are met.
- Maintains a constant line of communication with processing and maintenance teams.
- Maintains quality by monitoring each packaging station ensuring code dates, price, weight, seal integrity, and case counts are all correct.
- Identifies any quality issues, segregates suspect product, and notifies Quality Assurance and Plant Management.
- Maintains working knowledge of RedZone, 6-S and Lean Principles.
- Monitors RedZone for machine efficiencies, quality checks, and downtime.
- Uses EAM to enter work orders and track preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintains the facility in an audit ready condition at all times.
- Organizes and leads projects as requested by Plant Management.
- Directs others in completing varied department projects.
- Completes weekly payroll through ADP.
- Works closely with production, packaging, warehouse, and plant managers to ensure proper communication between shifts.
- Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.
- Learn the operations of all departments.
Requirements
- Requires analytical, math and reading skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Email).
- Requires leadership and management to direct the packaging departments and interface with other departments.
- Interpersonal and supervisory skills necessary to lead others.
- Knowledge of designated packaging and processing operations to assist when needed.
- Moderate lifting and occasional skid pulling.
- Knowledge of packaging machinery preferred.
- Additional post high school education preferred, not require.
- Fluent in Spanish desired but not required.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills required.
