Job Description
The City of Avondale has an opportunity for a Day Porter with the Facilities Department. This is a FLSA non-exempt, full-time position with benefits.
Hiring Range: $19.16 - $23.95
Salary range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of the compensation amount for the selected candidate. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and/or training.
The Day Porter is responsible for making sure City facilities are safe and presentable to the public. They help uphold the image of the City by performing basic maintenance tasks including trash removal, cleaning projects, painting, moving furniture, conference room set-up, light replacement, assisting fellow maintenance staff, and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Participates in assigned cleaning and repair work at buildings and park facilities. Works closely with Senior Maintenance Workers to assist with a wide variety of assignments in painting, janitorial, and event setup and takedown.
Manages, organizes, and prioritizes assigned work order requests in a prompt and efficient manner.
Installs furniture and performs furniture reconfigurations by assembling and disassembling systems furniture, keyboard trays, assembling carts, etc.
Performs interior and exterior maintenance on buildings by replacing lights, painting, cleaning up outside of buildings, emptying trash containers, and replacing recycle bins.
Assists with setting up and tearing down City events.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, understand simple processes, and the routine operation of machines.
Two (2) years of experience in custodial, cleaning, or entry-level building maintenance.
Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License.
Supplemental Information
Work requires the ability to read work orders, purchase orders, memorandums, letters, chemical labels, and internet and intranet information.
Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Work requires the ability to write work orders.
Normal tasks require the use of definite procedures, with little deviation. Work requires limited analysis.
The incumbent in this position has contact with others within the organization. These contacts may involve similar work units or departments within the City which may be involved in decision-making or providing approval or decision-making authority for purchases or projects. Vendors and suppliers may also be called upon for information on purchases, supplies, or products.
Employee must maintain regular attendance.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
