Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to join the Irwin IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's database systems. The Database Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of our database infrastructure. This role requires expertise in database design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Design and Implementation:
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems that meet organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, administrators, and Analysts to ensure seamless integration of databases with applications.
- Optimize database performance through efficient schema design and query optimization.
- Database Administration:
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and patching.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Ensure database security and implement access controls.
- Data Modeling:
- Develop and maintain data models for various applications.
- Work closely with IT team and stakeholders to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models.
- Performance Tuning:
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the database systems.
- Collaborate with system administrators to optimize server configurations.
- Data Migration and Integration:
- Plan and execute data migration projects.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency during migration processes.
- Collaborate to Develop robust ETL processes for data integration.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Train team members on database best practices.
- Data Warehousing:
- Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for sharing data across the organization.
- Develop and implement strategies for data sharing between different database engines
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of designing/implementing/troubleshooting an organizations database.
Education requirements:
Bachelor's degree in information technology/computer science or equivalent experience
