Purpose: To coordinate and manage all facets of database design and integration as part of software development and system design and management.
Job Responsibilities:
- In support of MS SQL and AWS PostgreSQL, interoperability and cross migration.
- Achieves organizational goals by defining, integrating, and upgrading a comprehensive database and data architecture to support applications, platforms, and database systems.
- Maintains databases by determining structural requirements, and developing and implementing solutions in support of business objectives.
- Maintain adherence to government regulations and guidelines for technological systems for safeguarding of all digital data.
- Troubleshoots and finds solutions for computer systems issues that affect data storage as they arise.
- Analysis of data structures and content, and recommend improvements or enhancements.
- Ability to work with business teams to ensure data and associated business needs align with actual data and database systems.
- Work Closely with Software Development teams to understand application requirements and provide guidance on database design, query optimization, and data access patterns.
- Defines infrastructure for long term (warehouse) and short term (transactional) data storage and reporting.
- Design and generates data cubes specialized for reporting and/or business analysis.
- Help evaluate platform architecture, technology, and tools based on data requirements.
- Confirms architecture capability and flexibility to support high availability applications by developing analytical models and completing validation tests.
- Design and integrate data first methodologies into all system designs and development projects.
- Develops and maintain enterprise database documentation such as ERD, data dictionaries
Data Architect Skills/Qualifications:
- Understanding of data analysis, business principles, and operations
- Excellent SQL query development and optimization (MSSQL, PostgreSQL) knowledge
- Software architecture and design around database systems
- Database systems network design, implementation, performance monitoring, evaluation and optimization

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or information systems; master’s degree a plus
- 3-5 years of experience as a database software developer or data architect in a data management role
- 3-5 years of experience in facilitating enterprise database design, optimization, migration and refactoring of data across life cycles.
- Experience with database system network design and implementation
- Certified Data Architect or equivalent experience
