- Assists in database development and modification efforts
- Assists in keeping database secure, efficient and accurate
- Maintains current and accurate knowledge of data storage and management best practices
- Helps to ensure that database meets specifications and requirements at the lowest possible costs
- Helps to ensure that database projects are completed on time and within estimated costs
- Assists in developing and maintaining documentation and standards
- Assists direct supervisor and identifies and resolves production and/or applications development problems related to the use of the database management system software or utilities
- Gathers, organizes, and interprets statistical data from the database to provide reports to, and answer questions from, upper management
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Identifies and analyzes the logical database structure for the company’s current and future needs
- Ensures integrity of database system by helping to develop, document, and enforce security procedures and access controls
- Analyzes requirements for current and future database performance; recommends equipment changes when necessary
- Helps develop guidelines for database training for data-entry staff, data analysts, and end users
- Collaborates with direct supervisor to identify needs; refines system to maximize multipurpose uses
- Maintains current knowledge of database technology developments through seminars, publications, and training courses
- Coordinates with direct supervisor to identify systems problems; assesses severity of the issues and prioritizes responses as appropriate
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extensive experience with personal computers and software applications
- Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Spreadsheets
- Able to type and enter data quickly and accurately
- Ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material
- Ability to effectively apply analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time managing skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Extensive knowledge of data preparation procedures and requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Thorough understanding of computer languages used in database
- Thorough understanding of database design and construction
- Proficient with or able to quickly learn systems and software used by the organization
