Job Summary:
Installs and maintains highly available internal and external relational database environments designed to meet business needs. This individual creates, maintains, and monitors backups, maintenance plans, and indexes to ensure optimal performance and high availability of the database environments. This individual also creates, publishes, and maintains data dictionaries for all environments supported & administers security across all database servers and instances. This individual is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of a database system.
This position is on-site at our headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa with hybrid capabilities after the first few months.
Primary Functions and/or Responsibilities:
• Installs and/or maintains the relational database environment
• Monitors database server utilization including CPU, memory, and storage
• Creates, maintains, and monitors backup schedules, maintenance plans, and indexes
• Adheres to existing disciplines in place for software/application change control processes in order to meet both regulatory and business requirements
• Thoroughly documents all database environments, applications and delivered reports
• Utilizes SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) practices and adheres to established processes for the analysis, design, testing and rollout of new/modified computer applications
• Works on multiple projects simultaneously and can multi-task and control project deliverables and expectations and provide superior customer service to all employees at multiple locations
• Provides input on data management tools, reporting tools, software languages and best practices utilized in the department to ensure deliverables are highly efficient and meet project requirements
• Assists in the development and maintenance of IT policies and standards
• Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
• Four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent required
• 6 years of experience managing a database environment utilizing Microsoft SQL Server required
• Prior proven experience and success in a highly available and complex database environment
Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Database modeling tools, database design, high availability, log shipping, replication and mirroring
• Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSMS, SSRS)
• Power BI, Veeam, VisualCron and Red Gate SQL Tools
• Banking/Financial Institution regulatory requirements helpful
