What you'll do and what we offer
Job Purpose
A Database Administrator is responsible for supporting the establishment, management, and maintenance of the configuration, integrity, and performance of databases hosted in Aptitude Cloud Service environments. This will be achieved through deploying various database tools and related processes, continuous monitoring, ongoing maintenance and response to database related issues. You are responsible for supporting the day to day database administration of Aptitude Cloud Service environments and consistently represent the Aptitude reputation.
As a key point of contact in Aptitude Cloud Service, you will mitigate risk by ensuring adherence to controls and security in all lifecycle phases. You will be expected to manage risk and think with a first-time right mindset as part of your decision-making process and with a sensitivity to client relations even when not directly client facing. You will adhere and proactively help to develop and document clear, repeatable, high-quality, and globally consistent cloud processes which create value and the best possible outcome for Aptitude and our clients. You are responsible for database administration of Aptitude Software Cloud Services environments and enabling them to meet client commitments and system requirements as they relate to database configuration, integrity, and performance.
A Database Administrator works as part of a global and diversified team and must accommodate cross Time Zone collaboration and client specific release windows with a flexibility in working hours. It is important to proactively cooperate and communicate with clarity directly with clients and across multiple Aptitude business units to deliver a best of breed Aptitude Cloud Service. This role requires consistent cooperation with product development, professional services, and support teams to resolve problems in a reliable way.

What we're looking for
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with ORACLE database systems on UNIX and Linux.
- Provision, configure, maintain, and support single/multi-tenanted Oracle Standard & Enterprise Edition databases in Aptitude Cloud Service environments running on AWS RDS.
- Manage and coordinate Oracle database backups, clones, and disaster recovery events (RMAN) & procedures.
- Maintain and optimize Oracle database configuration, storage, and archival with a critical focus on performance management and cost savings.
- In-depth knowledge of query tuning using Explain plan, segment level tuning and server / database tuning using the AWR.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to ensure consistency.
- Ability to work independently and determine priorities of tasks as part of a geographically separated team.
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate cross Time Zone collaboration and customer specific release windows.
- Perform Oracle database monitoring, manage user access, and support ticket resolution and reporting.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24×7 support to production environments.
Nice to haves
- AWS Certification Associate Level or other Cloud Certification.
- Experience using OCI in combination with MS Azure.
- Familiar with the development and use of real-time computing engines such as Clickhouse.
- Experience with other database platforms including lesser-known RDBMS such as Postgres.
