This position supports the California Department of Education's (CDE) public reporting efforts and is a key position in supporting the CDE's continuing work in transitioning to cloud technologies for data warehousing, documentation and reporting.
The position will work with the Data Warehouse implementation team and with a broad range of CDE program and technical management and staff to support the development and documentation of the functional and technical requirement for public reporting.
Duties include:
• Work with program staff and management to understand individual needs of the existing reports, including aggregations, visualizations, and data sources.
• Identify and develop business and functional requirements for current business processes.
• Identify and develop epics and user stories for new and enhanced reporting.
• Work with program staff and management to identify current business and data workflows
• Analyze workflows identifying process and workflow inefficiencies
• Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement (As Is - To Be)
• Analyze existing IT systems for improvements/enhancement in support of reporting business functions
Maintain knowledge of CDE's business processes, data, and transactional applications. Participates in complex development efforts and analyzes application documentation to understand data relationships and map source data to BI Data Warehouse targets. Validates data integration results and automates data refreshes by scheduling jobs. Recognize and apply technology trends and industry best practices related to data warehousing, reporting, and analysis.

TELEWORK OPTION
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
