Job description

The OUHSC Office of Admissions and Records (A&R) proudly provides support services for current students and alumni, as well as application services for prospective students. A&R processes application and transcript records for approximately 6,000 applicants, over 3,400 enrolled students, and over 1,000 graduates each academic year. In addition, A&R must provide complex reports to the National Student Clearinghouse, OU Open Records requests, Enrollment File Exchanges, and Accreditors to ensure that data is publicly accessible as required by the Higher Learning Commission. Data summaries include aggregated data about applicant demographics, enrollment, degree pathway analysis, and graduation data.   The Office of Admissions and Records is in need of a Data Warehouse Analyst to accomplish these tasks, specifically by maintaining PeopleSoft data tables associated with application processing up-to-date, PeopleSoft query development and management, developing and editing PeopleSoft code for application processing, writing scripts to transform data into a system uploadable structure, and preparing materials for reporting and web posting. The most critical data analyst role is reporting and updating enrollment characteristics to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). This position is also tasked with PeopleSoft queries for academic programs/colleges, exchanging files with OU Foundation for student scholarships, processing duplicate IDs, and preparing ad hoc report requests. In addition, the Data Warehouse Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and security of the Hyland transcript processing software and supplement applications, responsible for the processing of all incoming external education data (transcripts), and responsible for the validity of all incoming external education data stored on PeopleSoft.   Duties:
  • Researches and evaluates data to make recommendations to management about ways to improve data storage, reporting,
    importing, and other business issues.
  • Designs and develops Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) processes for Data Warehouses, gathers requirements, and creates and maintains dimensional data sets and relational structures. 
  • Establishes and maintains data modeling standards.          
  • Collects, analyzes, mines, and helps the business leverage the information stored in Data Warehouses
  • Performs Data Warehouse technical evaluations and proof-of-concepts and presents recommendations.       
  • Recommends architectural changes that maximize system performance, stability and maintainability.        
  • Develops, implements, tests, and maintains data management systems and infrastructures.  
  • Designs and builds optimal extraction, transformation, and loading processes for data from a wide variety of data sources.       
  • Participates in troubleshooting and tweaking of current Data Warehouse applications to spot and correct errors.       
  • Researches and recommends technology solutions related to data storage, reporting, importing, and other business concerns. 
  • Develops new or improved Data Warehouse components.       
  • Defines the user interfaces for managing the interaction between Data Warehouses and data marts.       
  • Collaborates with Business Intelligence Analysts and Developers to translate data requirements into logical data models.       
  • Identifies and implements internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.       
  • Ensures systems meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices.       
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, and 
  • 24 months experience in database systems, creating metadata, developing ETL processes, use of several reporting tools, or related experience
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience Skills:
  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of Data Warehouse      
  • Research, analysis, and problem-solving skills    
  • Working knowledge of relational database theory      
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and ability to listen     
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member     
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information      
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions       
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Physical: Must be able to engage in repetitive motions. Manual dexterity. Ability to sit for short or extended periods of time.
