This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control's Office of Information Technology. The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.Under limited supervision the Application Developer III will perform analysis, design, code, testing, documentation, implementation, modification, and upgrade of agency computer systems supporting Health Services. To include integration and monitoring of supporting backend system processes and solutions, documentation, and remediating and solving customer issues. Focus on supporting the Public Health Infrastructure initiatives.
Work in a team environment to implement, maintain and provide technical support for Health Services specific applications as assigned, including but not limited to Tableau and Power BI. Provide technical back-up for other applications as assigned. Ensure systems integrate seamlessly with agency Electronic Document Management System (EDM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Adheres to Information Technology application development standards.
Communicate and collaborate with other data analysts, Systems Integrations staff and program areas to ensure appropriate visualization of data.
Develop and oversee dynamic dashboard reporting and underlying data connections for select health information systems and programs.
Prepare and maintain system documentation for applications supported. Provide appropriate administrative documentation/project communication.

- Bachelors Degree and 1 year or Associates Degree and 3 years of applicable software development and modification experience.
- Related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience with Descriptive Statistics, PowerBI, SAS, Tableau, GIS
DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
