Project Overview:
The BI team supports the broader Finance org and senior leadership. The team owns the long term Financial Reporting Strategy roadmap and works with Finance and Engineering partners to build stable financial reporting, analytics, forecasting, simulation, modeling, and automation tools, with the goal of producing accurate financials, enabling Decision Intelligence and reducing the reporting burden on analysts.
We control the P&L, drive modeling, forecasting and automation efforts and lead data science initiatives to advise on optimal $ and HC resource allocation and drive accountability. Our deep business knowledge, data mastery, and sharp insight provide us a seat at the table as essential partners and strategic advisers to the leadership team. Our analytics suite is used by hundreds of analysts across Finance and Strategy & Ops orgs daily.
Overall Responsibilities:
We are looking for a junior data scientist or mid-level BI analyst with analytical rigor, strategic thinking and passion for automation engineering to drive our business forward and free up valuable analyst resources across FP&A function. This is an exciting position that will play a key role in shaping how Finance partners with key executives and drives margin accountability. It will offer scope for leadership of individual analytical/BI projects. You will work in close partnership with highly talented finance colleagues and consult on analytics and planning, and provide decision support for hiring, go-to-market, compensation and outsourcing strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Build or re-engineer data models (Python), data pipelines (SQL), dashboards and business intelligence solutions spanning ETL, storage and visualization layers, applying the latest industry best practices.
- Help re-engineer existing data pipelines in BigQuery / SQL, rebuild derivative tables and reporting dashboards, optimize dashboards frontend and backends.
- Maintain, document, and improve ML-based forecasting model (Python)
- Run forecasting models, socialize forecasts, gather inputs from stakeholders and iterate forecasts / rerun models as needed.
- Write/automate unit testing, validate and support downstream reports, aligning refresh cycles and definition.
- Actively monitor existing BigQuery / SQL data pipelines, maintain backends and respond to stakeholders requests, bugs and feature requests within SLAs.
- Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and provide timely and accurate reporting and analysis to finance and business leadership
- Produce and maintain non-technical documentation on model operations and data governance.
- Train Financial Analysts and Managers across Finance org on analytical methods, financial systems and tools.
- Contribute to minimize technical debt across our growing code repository.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics or related fields.
- 3+ years of work experience in data analysis related field.
- 2+ years working experience using Python for BigData ETL, forecasting, advanced data analysis.
- Very strong SQL.
- Proficiency in at least one data visualization tool (Data Studio, Looker, Tableau).
- Strong familiarity with Colab/Jupyter notebooks.
- Clear written and oral communication.
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience developing, running and working with Big Data pipelines (Bn+ records).
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex findings in a structured and concise manner to a non-technical audience.
