- Study structure and setup of key data sources, such as point-of-sale systems
- Identify and document business requirements for pricing data models
- Design the conceptual machine learning model, inputs, analytical methods, and outputs
- Build and implement machine learning algorithms

- Pricing Guidance
- Utilize insights to determine optimal pricing relationships between items and sales channels
- Deliver brand-wide pricing guidance at scheduled intervals by developing price tier options and determining ideal set of price tiers for each location
- Provide guidance to brand teams in establishing optimal pricing for new menu items, combos, limited time promotions and loyalty offers
- Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and maintain dashboards and tools used to measure success of pricing changes, including franchisee adoption along with sales and margin performance
- Partner with BI team to design and implement dashboards in Microsoft Power BI
- General
- Provide input in road map for future strategic pricing capabilities (tools, systems, data)
- Research industry and macroeconomic trends that may impact future pricing actions
- Scrutinize analytic processes for efficiency and quality and help implement improvements
- Create enthusiasm around revenue management throughout the organization, educating others on the importance of a strategic pricing approach
Job Summary
- The Data Scientist, Pricing Revenue Management has an integral role in the long-term strategy of maximizing franchisee and company-location sales and profitability for the 7 iconic restaurant brands within the Focus Brands family.
The Data Scientist position will be specialized around the data science and analytical functions of the Revenue Management team, integrating large data sets to develop pricing data and machine learning models, build machine learning algorithms, and incorporate outcomes into various systems and tools. Analyzing the success of prior pricing actions, such as franchisee adoption and sales/margin impacts, will also be a focus for this role. Along with these key functions, this role will also be involved in providing location-level pricing guidance during brand-wide pricing implementations.
The Revenue Management team is a newly-formed department within Focus Brands, providing an exciting opportunity to learn the inner-workings of each brand and create tools, systems and processes to provide best-in-class Revenue Management intelligence to each brand.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or other related discipline (required)
- Master's degree with a related focus (preferred)
Work Experience
- Required: 3+ years relevant experience in a data science role
- Preferred: 3+ years relevant experience in a data science role related to pricing
- Expertise in advanced analytical techniques (e.g. descriptive statistics, machine learning, optimization, pattern recognition, cluster analysis, segmentation analysis, etc.)
- Experience using analytical tools and languages, (e.g. Python, SQL, Spark SQL, etc.)
- Experience working with large data sets, distributed computing tools (e.g. GCP tensor flow, Synapse, Snowflake) and data transformation tools (e.g. Databricks, Data Factory)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
