The GVSU Office of Institutional Analysis collects, analyzes, and disseminates information about the university’s students, processes, and resources. This position will design, develop, maintain, and document online data access tools and respond to requests for data and analysis. The position holder will collaborate extensively with data owners, end users, and the Office of Data and Analytics.
The position will begin in July 2024, and it is the intention of the department to continue this appointment on a yearly basis through 2027.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Migrate and modernize legacy online reporting tools to a new data lake/warehouse.
- Work with university Data Advisory body to design and develop new reporting tools in response to university needs and priorities.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of university’s analytic data repository.
- Collaborate in planning the office’s adaptation to new demands, new data sources, and new methodologies.
- Respond to routine and ad hoc requests for statistical and analytic information.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in Research Methods and Statistical Analysis.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective and responsive visualization tools for complex data.
- Experience with Excel, SQL, data visualization tools, and programming languages (e.g. Python, SAS).
- Ability to perform accurate and effective work with limited supervision.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize multiple work assignments.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience in design and conduct of survey research.
- Familiarity with major university data systems (Banner, Slate, Workday).
- Knowledge of key web design building blocks (HTML, Javascript, CSS, JQuery).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $65,000
CAMPUS: This position will work from the Allendale campus.
