Work Location: The intern will have the opportunity to work from a home or other approved remote work location on Monday and Friday as business needs allow.
The intern must work at the CDS Global Des Moines Bell Avenue facility Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
As a Data Science Intern, you will work closely with our business and product leaders to design and build predictive data models that will help our clients understand their business in new ways.
- Maintains confidentiality of CDS and its clients' proprietary information.
- Conducting independent research and predictive modeling, applying statistical concepts and data analysis methods.
- Assisting with the execution of statistical research projects of complex scope.
- Utilizing modeling and data mining techniques: GLM, clustering, decision trees, etc.
- Conducting simulation studies.
- Researching new approaches to solving business problems using statistical techniques
- Investigates and assists in data analysis.
- Interprets data and identifies correlations.
- Offers recommendations to improve analyses; assists in documenting and summarizing results.
- Leveraging and developing effective, clear data visualization methods to represent complex data.
- Performing diagnostic checks of assumptions supporting statistical inferences.
- Writing reports summarizing findings for a broad-based audience.
EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND LICENSING
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics.
- Must be at Junior standing (or equivalent) and minimum overall G.P.A. of 3.0.
- Current and ongoing enrollment in an accredited college and/or university while working toward completion of Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: NLP, deep learning or artificial intelligence, R, Python, Hadoop, or SQL to produce high impact analysis.
- Understanding of Python including a strong grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP) fundamentals.
