Andes has developed a carbon removal technology based on beneficial microbes that convert CO₂ into stable minerals in agricultural soils. The company partners with farmers to apply Andes microbial inoculant to agricultural fields. The Carbon Program Operations team covers a spectrum of activities from field enrollment to carbon credit verification, including soil sampling overseen by the Field Operations team to measure carbon dioxide removal. The company is in a phase of rapid expansion, extending its operations throughout the US Midwest.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated, outstanding, and dynamic Data Quality Associate to join our Field Operations team with a primary focus on ensuring the high quality, organization, and accuracy of large data sets from the Carbon Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of our extensive soil sampling and field management data, vital for the verification of carbon credits. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable about large dataset cleaning, but also should be able to help implement improvements within our current methods of gathering and organizing data within the field operations team.
Location: Remote, Central time zone preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Field Operations team in the efficient collection, entry, and analysis of varied data to incorporate into usable and reportable formats
- Support the development of data collection systems to optimize efficiency and Data Quality
- Construct and maintain data intake forms
- Collaborate with team members to gather relevant data and ensure its accuracy
- Locate, define, and implement new process improvement opportunities
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Analytics, Computer Science, Agronomy, Biology etc.)
- 1-2 years of proven experience in Data Quality assurance and quality control
- Skills to efficiently find and fix errors in large datasets organized in Google Sheets and/or Excel
- Experience with biological, agricultural, or other scientific field data collection and data entry, with the ability to suggest data related process improvements
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in constructing forms for data collection
- Knowledge of basic agricultural practices is a plus
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (such as Python) for data analysis and manipulation
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Zapier to streamline data collection processes
- Experience with data analysis and translating complex data into a clear and compelling story
