An Advertising Platform Company is seeking Privacy and Data Counsel to join our team, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel.
Responsibilities:

• Provide practical legal advice and guidance on privacy, cyber, and data protection matters, including compliance with relevant laws and regulations such as CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, and other industry specific requirements.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and policies related to privacy, data sharing, data processing, data protection, and cybersecurity.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated with emerging trends, laws, and regulations in privacy and data protection to ensure the company's practices remain current and compliant.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including engineering, product, compliance, security and IT teams to address legal issues related to data governance, risk management, and incident response.
• Assist in developing and implementing company-wide privacy and data protection policies, procedures and training programs to promote a culture of compliance and data security awareness.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies, data collection practices, and industry standards to anticipate legal risks and opportunities related to privacy and data protection.
• Provide strategic legal counsel and risk analysis to senior management on matters related to privacy and data governance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a state bar association, preferably NY, CA or GA.
• At least three years of experience practicing law, with a focus on privacy and data protection, preferable in a technology company or law firm setting.
• Strong understanding of applicable laws regulations and industry standards relating to cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection, including CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience with contract review, negotiation, and drafting related to technology transactions, including SaaS agreement, software licensing, and data processing agreements, is preferred.
• CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/IT, CIPT or other relevant certifications in privacy and data protection are a plus.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with corporate governance, contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, and securities regulations.
• Experience handling privacy-related disputes, investigations, and litigation matters, including knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration.
