Job Description:

The Data Management Programmer (DMP) will provide technical expertise for managing large volume ofl R&ED data. The DMP will support various platforms and integrations, and will manage electronic data collection and access, all in accordance with Client policies and project deliverables.
The DMP will be responsible for contributing to the successful design and delivery of Data Management solutions for R&D projects on AWS and GCP.
The scope of work includes data cataloging, lifecycle management, data quality analysis, metaData Management (parsing, transformations, extraction), data enrichment through scripting, as well as solution design, development and testing.
The DMP will contribute to the solution performance (analysis/testing) and will work across business/technology teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and IT solution design for the organization.
The DMP will be an integral part of a small team focusing exclusively on scientific data in the R&D organization and contribute to the implementation roadmap defined by various business case.
The role responsibilities require high level of digital innovation, and demand passion, speed, accountability and creative problem solving. The successful candidate will actively work towards solving business needs identified in the scope below, and will be a contributing resource in the development and maintenance of cloud capabilities for R&D. He/She will collaborate and work closely with other functional teams in IT, business stakeholders and digital innovation teams to ensure the optimal portfolio of applications exists to support the business.
Manage data lifecycle across R&D organizations and groups
Contribute to efforts such as data catalogs, data access and provisioning, data transfers (internal and external), metaData Management and data findability solutions
Provide technical expertise for managing large volume of data from multiple sources
Ensure fit-for-purpose solution approach:
- Create analytical/modeling solutions while maintaining the right balance between speed and analytical soundness
- Ensure the right level of solution complexity is selected to solve business demands quickly and efficiently
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and best practice methodologies
Work with information technology staff and others to facilitate automation of standard, recurrent data transactions, management, analysis, and reporting
Ensure that external and internal regulations and policies governing Data Management and data systems are met
Assist in the development of methodologies to conduct data tracking and quality assurance
Assist in establishing data standards

Qualifications:

BS/MS in STEM (Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering)
3+ years of relevant industry experience managing data
Experience/expertise in the acquisition and management of data from multiple sources
Experience/expertise in management and programming of an electronic data capture systems
Experience with different databases, SQL and NoSQL
Proficient with programming in Python and/or R
Experience in other scripting languages like JavaScript, Perl, Julia and Php would be a plus
Experience with automating scripts and working in the terminal
Experience with AWS data storage, data transfer, IAM policies and reporting/dashboards tools
Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
Understanding of basic statistical methodologies and principles
Knowledge of Data Management fundamentals and data storage principles
Ability and willingness to learn new things (languages, tools, frameworks) quickly
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
Experience in training users in operation of software and tools
Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness in making decisions consulting with users' team
Ability to multitask, work independently with minimal supervision and proceed without a great deal of direction
Ability to work with personnel with varying degrees of technical expertise, including direct interaction with key business stakeholders
Demonstrated strong teamwork and organizational skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and influence decisions across to multiple levels of audience, both technical and executive
