Aptive Resources is seeking a Data Management Consultant with demonstrated research/IRB/statistical analysis to deliver high-quality project management/data analysis to the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development.
This position requires strong research coordination/data analysis and client interaction skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks. Experience leading and managing projects in alignment with client goals, while managing resources and mitigating risks, is required for this position. The successful candidate will be highly organized, systematic, and proactive in managing quality and exceeding client expectations within a fast-paced environment.
This immediate hire, full-time position is 100% remote.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide administrative and programmatic support for human studies and other research activities
- Perform statistical programming tasks against the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) and other data sources
- Consult with and collaborate with VA Investigators to ensure programming aligns with research or operational requirements.
- Conducting research recruitment activities
- Support ongoing research operations
- Develop ETL (extract, transformation, and load) and data integration processes to create analysis ready datasets.
- Draft technical and scientific written materials, including describing statistical and methodological approaches to research.
- Careful attention to data security, governance, and quality policies.
- Work collaboratively with research teams
- Work with the research team to ensure that all documents are complete and accurate.
- Field general and regulatory questions from investigators, study team, and study participants.
- Use checklists and instructions to verify completeness of checklists and protocols.
- A bachelor's degree in health administration, public health, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
- 7+ years of study coordination, relevant project management, data analysis, research, and/or IRB experience
- Experience with human subjects research and regulations in all phases of study execution
- Excellent written and oral business communication skills. Ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL or another relational database system
- Proficiency in a statistical programming language (SAS, R, Python, Java)
- Knowledge of Common Data Models and standards (OMOP, PCORnet, i2b2, or FHIR)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience with VA/DoD and knowledge of military populations.
- High level of experience and comfort working independently with senior leadership, investigators, faculty, staff, students, medical professionals, and external agencies in complex organizations.
- Advanced knowledge of the scope and function of the IRB as well as the rules and regulations governing the conduct of human subjects research (e.g., VA, FDA, IRB, and GCP regulations)

- Must possess discretion and mature judgment, as confidential information is routinely encountered.
- Knowledge of health care vocabularies (ICD, CPT, RxNorm, ect)
- Experience with software development/programming best practices for quality assurance testing and version control.
- Experience working with unstructured medical data like clinical notes, medical imaging, or medical devices.
