Job description

KeyLogic is actively seeking a Data Governance Systems Administrator who can design and implement data administration policies, models and standards. This also includes implementation of the entire Data Governance program and serve as the escalation points for resolving all data related conflicts. Functionally, a data admin is responsible for processing and transforming data into the best data models. Data governance responsibilities include establishing the infrastructure and technology, setting up and maintaining the processes and policies, and identifying the individuals (or positions) within an organization that have both the authority and responsibility for handling and safeguarding specific types of data.
Responsibilities:

  • Implementing changes in database operations and ensuring data is readily available to end-users
  • Minimizing downtime of databases and ensuring data provided is accurate
  • Managing database access and keeping stored data up-to-date
  • Providing training, feedback, and support to users on the usage of data provided
  • Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up so that vital information can be retrieved in case of accidental loss or security breach
  • Monitoring performance and providing information on ways to improve the authenticity and security of data
  • Maintaining the efficiency of the database by providing regular checks and data updates

Desired Skills:
  • Proficiency in using data management tools and platforms, such as data cataloging software (e.g., Collibra, Alation), data quality tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend), and Data Governance platforms (e.g., IBM Data Governance, SAP Data Intelligence)
  • Understanding of database systems, both relational (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), including data modeling, schema design, and querying
  • Knowledge of data profiling techniques and tools to assess the quality, consistency, and completeness of data
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and data security practices, including encryption, access controls, and data masking
  • Experience with managing metadata, including metadata tagging, classification, and ensuring metadata accuracy and consistency
  • Understanding of Data Governance frameworks, such as DAMA (Data Management Association) and the Data Governance Institute's DGI Data Governance Framework
  • Ability to establish and maintain data lineage, tracking data transformations, and understanding how data flows through various systems
  • Developing and documenting Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulations
  • Knowledge of data integration techniques and tools for bringing data from various sources together, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
  • Implementing data auditing and monitoring solutions to ensure Data Governance policies are being followed and to detect anomalies or data breaches
  • Understanding of MDM principles and practices for managing critical business data elements, such as customer or product data
  • Identifying and working with data stewards who are responsible for specific data domains within the organization
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data, as well as scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and automation
  • Creating and maintaining reports and metrics to track the effectiveness of Data Governance initiatives and compliance with data policies
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and processing services (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, Google BigQuery)
  • Using version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage changes to Data Governance policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong technical documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in dynamic team environment
  • Proven track record in demanding, customer service-oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels within an organization
  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational abilities and problem solving skills

Qualifications:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline required, OR a minimum of 8 years equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of experience as a Data Governance Platform/Systems Administrator
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus.
