Job description

Establishes Data Governance processes and fosters relationships that will improve data integrity and the effective use of data systems and reports within the university

Essential Job Functions


  • Produces necessary documentation and materials pertaining to the Data Governance process for university employees
  • Creates the Data Governance committee meeting calendar and schedules ad hoc meetings as new data needs arise
  • Monitors the progress of working groups established to address identified data challenges
  • Oversees and facilitates discussion, discovery, and agreements across functional and administrative units on the definitions, documentation, and appropriate use of university data
  • Acts as a subject matter expert, alongside departmental staff, for the university in regards to the interpretation, implementation, and defining of key data elements for external reporting requirements such as; Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
  • Works closely with university executives to set direction and data priorities
  • Keeps up to date on federal, state, and accrediting bodies’ compliance requirements to maintain that functional units have business processes and systems in place needed for efficient tracking and retrieval of data for accurate reporting
  • Assess matters regarding Data Governance and creates solutions in moving forward
  • Builds and maintains internal relationships
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in an institution of higher education, enterprise data or other related experience
  • Project management training or certification
  • Excellent organization, facilitation and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Data Governance processes
  • Working knowledge of data architecture/systems
