Job description

The Data Governance Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:

  • Designs/analyzes complex reports to satisfy management requirements.
  • Deals with complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact.
  • Uses broad discretion in developing solutions for broad based business reporting issues.
  • Leads reengineering efforts in business's methodology, strategy, and organizational goals.
  • Manages resource allocation and leads the work within a team/project to develop solutions for business reporting issues.
  • Applies/demonstrates advanced understanding of processes, procedures, and policies for area supported. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of how own area and others collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business objectives.
  • Acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level personnel in the business processes and procedures of area supported.
  • Provides in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Influences strategic functional decisions through advice, counsel or provided services that have direct impact on the business.
  • Persuades and influences others through developed communication and diplomacy skills with colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.

  • Determines requirements for and prioritize development of new enterprise-wide principles, policies, processes and practices as needed.
  • Develops and manages approach for measuring adoption of principles, policies, processes and practices.
  • Manages relationship with key business leaders and influential subject matter experts within specific lines of business to drive efforts to measurable successful conclusion.
  • Prepares executive/management level reporting and other regulator-required updates.
  • Acts as a change agent and collaborator, partnering with LOBs, Global Functions, and CDO team to establish enterprise wide Data Governance programs.
  • Processes mapping, modeling, and line of business policies and practices.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated Data Governance skillset
  • Advanced understanding of Project management methodologies and tools
  • Senior level experience in a related role (Data Governance)
  • Subject matter expert in at least one related area (Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Modeling, Data Certification)
  • Ability to monitor tight deadlines or unexpected requirement changes

Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree

Responsibilities:
  • This ICG Data Governance Office role is specific to the Information Services Group and is responsible for governing the implementation of Data Governance policies, standards and procedures globally.
  • Role involves managing and governing various data programs under the regulatory-driven and Enterprise Chief Data Governance Office-sponsored data policy programs.
  • The individual will require the individual to become a subject matter expert in Data Governance and Citi's own set of Data Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • The position manages and governs the delivery of significant programs and initiatives for which the ICG Data Governance Office is responsible.
  • The position involves working with Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams as well as the Enterprise and Federated Chief Data Office.
  • Provide oversight of detailed execution plans for ICG data initiatives while proactively uncovering and escalating risks, issues and dependencies that may impact program/initiative delivery. Demonstrate consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Facilitate and coordinate effective communication between and across key stakeholders to enable efficient execution of program goals.
  • Deliver regular status reporting and metrics to management and key stakeholders.
  • Organize and lead assigned program-related meetings, including the creation of agendas, materials, and minutes.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Chief Data Office and stakeholders by providing constructive and actionable feedback on processes and implementation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to learn more about data elements and business processes, ensuring adherence to Citi Data Governance Policy (CDGP), standards, and procedures, and consistently track progress of the programs and book of work.
  • Apply program management best practice across all works streams.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in Data Governance and Data Management, ideally 3+ years working with large regional or global data programs.
  • Experience with Data Lineage, Data Catalog, Critical Data Elements, Data Certification and metrics. Subject matter expert in at least one related area.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience producing high-quality material and presenting it to all levels of the organization, including senior audiences, in both verbal and written form. Ability to articulate ideas in a simple, succinct and coherent way.
  • Ability to work on own initiative (self-starter) to help drive the larger team to meet its goals.
  • Ability to build and maintain networks and intrapersonal relationships.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and on time; ability to prioritize key work activities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new material quickly and deliver results in compressed time frames.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
