Job Summary
The Data Governance Director will be responsible for the identification, utilization, and governance of data across Raymond James Financial. The Director will report to the Treasurer-RJF and support RJF as it builds its capabilities in preparation for the transition to a Category IV institution. Strategic partnerships with internal business unit data owners and Data Governance managers, senior management and external consultants will be required to define, identify, research, source and drive accountability for accurate and complete data. The Data Governance Director uses extensive judgement, knowledge and skills obtained through experience and training to lead cross-functional efforts; works with top leadership to understand the needs, strategy, and direction of RJF's Large Financial Institution readiness. Typically deals with complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact. Anticipates challenges and resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• As a member of the team charged with leading RJF's readiness for LFI compliance, oversees business-unit-level data stewardship to promote optimal data quality and completeness.
• Identifies the data needs of regulatory reporting for LFI and plans, coordinates, monitors and evaluates the governance related activities of the data stewards to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
• Collaborates with IT, Finance Project Management Office, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management and others on data management initiatives, including but not limited to building and maintaining the data dictionary and driving accountability for Data Governance and lineage. Facilitates coordination between business units and IT on informational needs.
• Partners with second-line defense in identifying and assessing data-related risks. May propose recommendations toward remediation.
• May assist in initial data quality testing and process documentation efforts as needed.
• May be responsible for the oversight and management of direct reports.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of
• Concepts, principles and practices of internal controls and data management and governance.
• Principles of banking, finance and securities industry operations, and familiarity with accounting and finance related topics.
• General familiarity with RJB's risk and control framework.
• Concepts of business analytics.
Skill in
• Understanding, interpreting, researching, defining, and documenting policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding, documenting, and explaining information process flow, as well as working with data sets efficiently while maintaining documented proofs of source, accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinating with multiple parties and individuals to achieve operational objectives, including navigating competing priorities across functions. Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to build positive relationships conducive to maintaining both collaboration and accountability.
• Launching and leading project initiatives, including pioneering new territory.
• Implementing processes and procedures for efficient and timely work flow.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements
Education/Previous Experience
• Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years' experience in accounting, finance, regulatory or Data Governance operations, in the financial services industry.
