Form of workAs a Data Engineering Intern, you will collaborate closely with our director of engineering, product managers, and stakeholders to assist in designing and developing data solutions and data platform components in an agile development environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains confidentiality of CDS and its clients' proprietary information.
- Works on big data platform and ecosystem, create data processing pipelines for data management functionalities.
- Ensures high quality solutions by design and build unit tests.
- Helps create the CI/CD pipelines for the software components.
- Partners with director of engineering, product managers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and implement solutions that encompass analysis, programming, and how to integrate these solutions into the larger eco-system.
- Develops technical solution options from business requirements.
- Formally presents solutions and system information to clients, as well as business staff and executive management.
- Analyzes user requests and recommends appropriate course of action to management.
- Produces appropriate research and analysis of requirements and/or efforts necessary for completion of development projects.
- Assists others in the development of detailed programs and system specifications and test plans.
- Provides regular communication updates to development management, requestors, and other affected departments for all assigned projects.
EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND LICENSING
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or equivalent field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.).
- Experience of server-side development language such as Java, Scala, or Python.
- Experience working with databases and SQL.
- Experience designing and developing scalable data. applications using modern frameworks and distribution including Spark, Hortonworks
- Experience with enterprise technologies and principles, such as SOA, REST.
Must be at Junior standing (or equivalent) and minimum overall G.P.A. of 3.0. - Current and ongoing enrollment in an accredited college and/or university while working toward completion of Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: NLP, deep learning or artificial intelligence, R, Python, Hadoop, or SQL to produce high impact analysis.
- Understanding of Python including a strong grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP) fundamentals.
