Position Description
Lindsay Corporation is hiring a Data Engineering Intern within its Information Technology organization, reporting to the Manager of Data Services. In this role you will participate in the development, testing, and delivery of high-quality data products in support of our data analysis and data science activities. This role will participate in green field development as we rapidly advance our data analytics capabilities. You will work closely with the entire data services team as well as key individuals throughout the company.
Position Details
This is an hourly position that is based in our Omaha, NE global headquarters Only local candidates to the Omaha/Lincoln, Nebraska area will be considered. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in the delivery of high quality data products to our data warehouse/data lake for consumption by data analysts, business analysts, and data scientists.
- Port data products from a legacy data warehouse to modern data warehouse/lake architecture.
- Quickly and accurately address technical inquiries related to data and reporting.
- Assist with building dimensional data models.
- Work with stakeholders to identify data sources and build data products.
- Participate in both data analysis and data science activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working toward or recently earned a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Practical experience working with data.
- An understanding of data warehousing and data lakes to support data analytics.
- A strong desire to collaborate with coworkers to create high-quality data products.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where constant iteration, improvement, and innovation is key to the success of the team.
- Robust problem-solving skills, the ability to learn from doing, personal accountability, and a positive and professional attitude.
- Proficiency in the following technologies and tools:
- SQL
- Data manipulation programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala, or R)
- Data analysis and data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas)
- SQL / NoSQL databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, etc.)
- Strong communication skills (video, e-mail, and in-person)
- Team oriented: able to engage with others to acquire information and complete project tasks
- Interested in future technologies and software
