OrthoNebraska is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our healthcare organization, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Data Engineering, with a focus on healthcare data systems and compliance. This person will wear many hats in the role, but much of the focus will be on developing and maintaining the company's data infrastructure and interfaces as well as building data pipelines that transforms raw data into usable formats. Beyond technical expertise, the Data Engineer will need soft skills for clearly communicating highly complex data trends to organizational leaders. Position Details/Duties:
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions for data management.
- Provide technical leadership in the evaluation and selection of data management tools and technologies that align with our data strategy.
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise framework, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Leadership, Analytics, and IT teams, to understand data requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
- Work closely with our analytics team to help build complex algorithms that provide unique insights into our data.
- Build data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate data from disparate sources.
- Optimize database performance and troubleshoot data-related issues to maintain the integrity and availability of data.
- Model front-end and back-end data sources to help draw a more comprehensive picture of user flows throughout the system and to enable powerful data analysis.
- Use agile software development processes to make iterative improvements to our back-end systems.
- Work closely with IT and data governance teams to establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices.
- Ensure the security and privacy of healthcare data by implementing and maintaining compliance with industry regulations such as HIPAA.
Position Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare data standards, including HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database technologies such as SQL Server or MongoDB.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and proficiency in at least one cloud-based data warehouse.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Communication skills, especially for explaining technical concepts to nontechnical business leaders.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Project Management experience preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Physical:
- This position is classified as Light Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (66% of the time) to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are more than those for Sedentary Work.
