Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and dependable individual to join the Van Valen lab. This individual will collaborate with graduate students and staff to create annotated datasets to be used in deep learning algorithms for biological images.
Essential Job Duties
- Review and correct existing annotations of biological objects.
- Extract relevant images and videos from scientific publications as instructed by staff.
- Work with crowdsourcing companies to make clear and concise annotation instructions.
- Provide feedback on data quality and software performance to further develop annotation workflows.
- Update and maintain image databases.
- Communicate efficiently with the manager, team members, researchers, and other support groups.
Basic Qualifications
- Some college-level training in life sciences.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computers.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while paying close attention to detail.
- Ability to extract relevant metadata from scientific publications.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently yet assimilate well into a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a team-oriented work environment.
- Experience in interpreting microscopy images to identify microstructures and cellular boundaries.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, or other programming languages.
- Experience with version control software (i.e. git).
