Strategic background and executive overview

At J&J Innovative Medicines Finance, we aim at continuing our Digital Transformation and launching new E2E modules for actuals, planning and reporting and then continuously improve them. A new area of focus will be managing all the data resulting of these implementations. Our objective is to transform data into insights, and insights into value for decision making purposes. By doing this, we will turn our data into an asset for our organization.

To achieve this goal, we will evolve from a team of IM Implementation Leads towards a team of IM Data & Digital Transformation Leads. This will require a lot of shaping and leading to ensure we go for more E2E management and integration of data, aligned with our business and finance partners as well as the SigniFi Finance Solutions & Technology team (“FS&T”). To enable that, they will work closely with the CFOs and FDs of their functional team and collaborate across the organization of Data & Digital Transformation Leads and FS&T for E2E alignment.

To achieve this, we are looking for a Data &Digital Transformation Lead (“DDTL”) for our IM Research & Development finance organization.

Major roles & responsibilities

(1)   Shape the environment and role with the R&D FP&A team : define the right focus, priorities, and governance model with business & finance leaders in R&D, including the different SigniFi FS&T teams, JJT team and the other non-R&D DDTLs. A close collaboration with the R&D FP&A team and Implementation Leader will be key here to look for action plans, get support for the execution and ensure alignment in our ambitions with other major transformation projects like BEACON replacement (SAP ERP), TransACT and TranSCend and all R&D systems and processes that have dedicated leaders.

(2)   Lead the deployment of our data strategy :

-          Collaborate with the R&D business and finance teams to uncover business needs where data can help to support business decisions, drive the process & alignment to implement and test this.

-          Collaborate with FS&T team to develop and implement technology to improve planning, reporting and data management e.g. machine learning, predictive analytics, visualization techniques.

-          Develop and implement data management strategies in close collaboration with FS&T to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of data, and embed the recommendations into guidelines and policies.

-          Provide visibility on data quality and drive improvements, global alignment and streamline data flows, anticipating future needs and changes, and champion deep dives to address anomalies and discrepancies.

-          Create the right governance to enhance awareness and understanding of data and align on actions plans to improve it.

-          Educate stakeholders and increase the data literacy skills across the finance organization to enhance E2E understanding of needs & opportunities. Continue to increase the digital mindset of our finance organization.

-          Manage data accessibility and provide a forum to educate users on data protection for a region/team.

-          Manage data throughout the lifecycle and systems , including creation, enhancements, and clean-up of data setups to fit the business needs. Ensure we adjust the data to the way we work and ensure alignment with new transformational programs (e.g. TransAct, TranSCend)

-          Drive more ownership and education on data.

(3)   Launch new planning and reporting modules and ensure they are tailored to the needs of R&D. Ensure training, communication, alignment with management is in place and align with the FS&T teams on the best use of SMEs for testing and approval. Ensure the new modules connect with the R&D environment (e.g. Planisware) and processes (e.g. LRFP)

(4)   Drive the continued improvement process of the Planning & Reporting strategy; Besides driving this for al planning & reporting modules in R&D, each DDTL will also take the lead across the organization for specific modules to align E2E the needs with the BUF teams and the FS&T teams. This will require close connections across the finance & business community to capture improvements, prioritize them and lead the follow up and implementation of them across the organization. This will also require a strong alignment with the R&D FP&A team and its leads for TransAct and TranSCend.

(5)   Define the right KPIs for success to measure effectiveness of our master data ambition, adoption, data quality and usage/protection. Support the monitoring and discussions of these KPIs as well as the development plans to improve them.

Other responsibilities

Active participation to J&J IM R&D Finance meetings and R&D FP&A meetings

-          Be part of the global Data Steward Network

-          Collaborate with DDTLs, share benchmarks, and drive specific team related objectives.

-          Ad-hoc project related to the new role or personal development plans.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education :  Masters/Bachelor in Finance/Business

Required Years of Related Experience: 10 years +

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

The role will require a unique combination of leadership skills to drive change and adoption, as well as technical skills to implement the objectives; the role is a director level but does require to dive deep into master data issues and opportunities.

Some requirements:

-       Understanding of the Pharmaceutical or MedTech industry is preferable.

-       Expertise in planning and budgeting processes across the organization.as well as a good understanding of planning & reporting systems and interdependencies

-       This role requires a deep understanding of financial processes & systems, and the ability to analyze and interpret data to drive meaningful insights.

-       Ability to lead and collaborate in a matrix driven virtual environment.

-       Influence business and finance leaders by applying active listening skills to develop requirements and translate them to a project team for execution.

-       Presentation and communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization. The candidate needs to be able to explain complex matters in a simple way as well as drive adoption on sometimes technical topics to non-technical audiences.

-       Change management skills required and experience in managing transition preferred.

Experience working with SAP and Reporting tools preferred.

Percentage Traveled:  10%

Required Years of People Management Experience : 5+ even if no direct reports in function

The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $276,000.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
