Job description

Compucom Systems, Inc. provides end-to-end IT managed services to enable the digital workplace for enterprise, midsize and small businesses.  To enable our clients to focus on what matters most, we employ a customer-centric, hard-working, and talented group of people that Act Like an Owner, Do the Right Thing, and Have Fun Doing It!  We’re looking for a Data Center Operations Manager in the Alfretta, GA area to join our team.

 

This position is On-Site. US-based applicants only.


Manage customer requirements for Data Center Operations while ensuring good practices in standard methodologies and processes to deliver an integrated solution. Develop and maintain plans, policies, and procedures for all operating activities.  Duties may include, but are not limited to, creating, or maintaining operation policies, build outs, return procedures, scheduling, quality assurance, reporting, and inventory reconciliation.

 

The Data Center Operations Manager will be operationally responsible for two Data Centers. Some high-level responsibilities include:

 

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to Data Center technicians and operators.
  • Manage the performance of a diverse team(s) of Data Center operation professionals with varying skills across different locations.
  • Assist with new hire interviewing, training and review support capabilities and establish plans to improve staff performance.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of day-to-day Data Center Operations including queue management, 7/24 shift arrangement and hardware logistics.
  • Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are being measured and met.
  • Inspire and guide improvement in team processes, technology innovation and automation.
  • Manage and improve the workflows and through-put for Data Centers operations.
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs.
  • Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absences and vacations.
  • Be passionate about the quality and quantity of services being provided, and continuously strive to improve our customer experience.

  • Strong communication/interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • This resource will be the site-level team lead, for the onsite resources. Their duties will include workload management, scheduling, and oversight for the resource team.  This resource will interface with the customer staff daily, so strong communication skills are a must.
  • This resource must also be highly efficient with speaking, reading, and writing fluid English.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Data Center Operations management experience.
  • This resource is responsible for all builds, decommissions and capacity management within the respective sites.
  • The resource will work with facilities and local personnel to determine location, power requirements, cabling requirements, and help make any other decisions related to the project.
  • Data center planning experience required including:
  • Capacity Management: Knowledge of preferred device placement practices.
  • Power: Knowledge about power systems / constraints / best practices.
  • Cabling: Knowledge of cabling best practices.
  • Capable of executing physical workload (as needed).
  • The resource will review build, change, decommission checklists, and inspect the thoroughness of the work.
  • Resides in the area of the on-site Alpharetta, GA Data Center.
  •  
  • Must be able to travel to Cincinnati, OH to provide staffing support.
  • At minimum, each site must be visited at least two (2) times per year.
  • Requires at least 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Utilize operational practices, internal customer metrics, and operational dashboards to facilitate periodic updates/reviews of the following items:
  1. Weekly resource staffing (on-call) listings and schedule and/or site-based resource changes.
  2. Weekly resource allocation & focus (assignments of current and upcoming projects/tasks).
  3. Weekly project progress reports (updates of past, current and upcoming builds/decommissions/projects/tasks).
  4. Monthly updates/review of ticket closure rates (inclusive of customer support).
  5. Monthly updates/review of incidents or problems.
  6. Monthly updates/review of inventory management:
  7. Updates on incoming, on-site, and outgoing assets/items.
  8. Updates on Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCiM) accuracy, review of problem areas, corrective actions, and ongoing upkeep.
  9. Updates on infrastructure inventory (i.e., structured/RTS (ready to serve) cabling, patch panels, racks, and rack infrastructure) and usage.
  10. Monthly validation of documentation accuracy/usage and retention practices
