Job description

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Battery Technician (Level 1) to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires approximately 10% travel.

Battery Technician I

Description:

The Battery Technician I is responsible (under qualified supervision) for the initial installation, startup, certification, continuous preventative and corrective maintenance, and replacement of DC batteries related to Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems in Data Centers, and DC Plant systems utilized in telecom applications.

Primary Duties:

Apply and adhere to all mandated safe work practices and safety protocols.

Ensure strict adherence to all critical facility work rules in effect at the customer's site.

Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite at all times.

Assist with initial installation of new battery systems.

Assist with the removal and replacement of retired or defective individual batteries and battery systems.

Assist with preventative maintenance of batteries while minimizing risk to the operation.

Perform preventive maintenance on individual UPS and Telecom batteries and battery systems.

Operate by procedure only utilizing approved MOP/SOP/EOP documentation.

Safely operateequipment including but not limited tocompany vehicles, pallet jacks, forklifts (with proper certification), battery lifting devices, shrink wrapping and banding equipment.

Other duties and tasks commensurate with the project scope at the discretion of the Project Lead.

Additional Accountabilities:

100% completion of required Talent LMS based training courses as assigned.

100% adherence to Salute culture and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma.

Clean driving record.

Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to stand, walk, and reach.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds solo and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Ability to safely use hand tools and electrical testing equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Data Center infrastructure experience

Possess a basic electrical system/component aptitude.

Prior DC power experience

OSHA 10/30 certification

Battery Technician II
Description:
The Battery Technician II is responsible for (under limited supervision) for the initial installation, startup, certification, continuous preventative and corrective maintenance, and replacement of DC batteries related to Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems in Data Centers, and DC Plant systems utilized in telecom applications.
Primary Duties:

Apply and adhere to all mandated safe work practices and safety protocols.
Solid understanding of lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) protocol and energy isolation.
Ensure strict adherence to all critical facility work rules in effect at the customer's site.
Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite at all times.
Assemble/install battery racks and cabinets.
Assist with the removal and installation of new batteries.
Disconnect and reconnect battery cabling in battery racks and cabinets.
Assist with the removal and replacement of retired or defective individual batteries and battery systems.
Assist with preventative maintenance of batteries while minimizing risk to the operation.
Perform preventive maintenance on individual UPS and Telecom batteries and battery systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Data Center infrastructure experience
Prior UPS Battery Technician experience
OSHA 10/30 certification
NFPA-70e certification
Working knowledge of Microsoft WORD and EXCEL programs.
Battery Technician III

Description:
The Battery Technician III is responsible for proving technical direction and leadership to the teams responsible for the initial installation, startup, certification, continuous preventative and corrective maintenance, and replacement of DC batteries related to Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems in Data Centers, and DC Plant systems utilized in telecom applications.
Primary Duties:

Apply and enforce all mandated safe work practices and safety protocols.
High-level command of lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) protocol and energy isolation.
Ensure strict adherence to all critical facility work rules in effect at the customer's site.
Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.
Provide expert technical direction and leadership to the team responsible for all work at the client's site.
Lead large teams with varying skill levels and expertise to meet expected project milestones and objectives.
Assemble/install battery racks and cabinets.
Direct the team with the removal and installation of new batteries.
Disconnect and reconnect battery cabling in battery racks and cabinets.
Assist with the removal and replacement of retired or defective individual batteries and battery systems.
Direct the team with preventative maintenance of batteries while minimizing risk to the operation.
Perform preventive maintenance on individual UPS and Telecom batteries and battery systems.
Operate by procedure only utilizing approved MOP/SOP/EOP documentation.

5+ years of UPS and/or Battery Technician experience.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Highly organized and capable of planning, prioritizing, and executing with precision.
Possess a high-level understanding of Data Center electrical systems and components.
Ability to interpret complicated technical drawings and documentation.
Ability to stand, walk, and reach.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds solo and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to safely use hand tools and electrical testing equipment and meters.
Ability to collect and interpret data from battery testing equipment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with client's technical staff and other team members regarding technical issues.
Mentor and counsel direct reports and establish a succession plan for each role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong proficiency utilizing Microsoft WORD and EXCEL programs.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Data Center infrastructure experience
PMP or other relevant management certifications
OSHA 10/30 certification
NFPA-70e certification
