A Typical Day
- Accountable for the Data Architectural Artifacts including Data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and dictionaries, data flow diagrams, Data pipelining, transformation and automation
- Contribute to and maintain our org wide Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
- Responsible for data Strategies, Policies, Procedures and Standards such as data quality, security, compliance, retention and lifecycle management, Data disaster resiliency, recovery and availability planning, and distill and drive best practices on applying cloud technologies effectively to meet our data strategy needs
- Own our Data Operational Practices including data infrastructure TCO modeling, optimization and capacity planning, govern and ensure compliance with organizational security practices and auditing
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers/vendors to ensure smooth operations and support.
- Define, monitor, and alert against SLAs, SLOs and SLIs ensuring smooth operation of all data pipelines.
- Build and execute incident management practices in support of data availability
- Drive best in class data strategies such as Knowledge transfer, training, mentoring of cloud practices across the engineering org
- Work with business, product and engineering partners, along with data producers and consumers across the business to distill data needs and drive the delivery of solutions
To Land This Opportunity
- You’re an expert in understanding of core data principles around data modelling, SQL and query optimization and are Best in class, Cloud based, ETL practices, pipelining, quality testing and automation
- You have a broad understanding of the data engineering, data science and data analytical spaces including industry tooling at play in each
- You have 8+ years of experience of relevant industry experience
- You are familiar with data warehousing, data lakes and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure (preference), AWS, GCP)
- You obtain first rate communication skills and business acumen to distill business requirements, source relevant data and integrated fresh, quality-assured data into analytics and data science platforms
- You are passionate about big data technologies and data scaling strategies and have a firm grasp of data governance policies, principles and best practices including data security
- You are proficient in one or more major cloud platforms, such as Azure (preference), Google Cloud, AWS or others and have experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, EFK Stack, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, New Relic etc
- You have knowledge of diagramming tools and methodologies (e.g. Miro, Diagrams.net, Figjam, Mermaid.JS etc)
- Bonus points if you have a bachelor's degree level in Computer Science or equivalent
