Description
This position provides support to Dance Instructors and helps facilitate dance classes. Helps with instructing the planning and execution of dance classes, ensuring that students have a positive and productive learning experience. This role involves supporting instructors, demonstrating dance moves, and providing additional assistance as needed. This role can help aspiring Dance Instructors or individuals passionate about dance who want to gain experience in teaching and assisting with dance classes. The Instructor Aid is to report to the Recreation Supervisor - Youth and Cultural Arts Programs.
Essential Duties
1. Assist the Dance Instructor in setting up the dance studio, including arrangingmirrors, and music equipment.
2.Ensure that program related activities run efficiently and are well-organized.
3.Provide guidance and support to participants, including resolving issues,concerns, or conflicts.
4.Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members, parents, andother instructors.
5.Maintain order and discipline in the class by helping and showing the studentshow to follow the instructor's directions.
6.Assist with playing and managing the music used during classes.
7.Assists staff and substitute for staff as needed.
8.Maintains control of class participants and makes sure they are in the properlocation.
9.Helps distribute materials and handouts to students and parents.
10.Ensure the safety of participants during practices and performances.
11.Informs supervisor and completes necessary forms if an injury or accidentoccurs.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1.Proper use and storage of equipment and supplies.2.Cleaning of equipment / supplies used.3.Responds to parent concerns.4.Informs supervisor of any information that is distributed to participants.5.Wear appropriate dance attire and Huntley Park District name tag/identification during all work hours.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
1.Must be able to tolerate sun, light rain, heat, cold and humidity and other conditions.
2.While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen.
3.Employee is required to stand, walk and use hands.
4.Employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or kneel, lift and/or move up to 30pounds. As this is a skill-based instructional position, the employee is expected todemonstrate techniques associated with the programs they are teaching/leading.
5.Specific vision requirements include, distance, color vision, peripheral and depthperception and ability to adjust focus.
6.Employee must be able to follow supervisor directions with safe follow through andexercise good judgment and safety awareness.

Qualifications
1. Has Previous Dance Experience.
2.Has a strong understanding of various dance styles and techniques.
3.Be in direct contact with the instructor and the students, conveying informationor announcements as necessary.
4.Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated parkdistrict policy.
5.Able to work well with children.
6.Must be at least 16 years of age.
