Additional Information:
· This role will be required to travel to project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions 90% of the time.
· Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions 10% of the time.
· Will need to report to the office at least 3 days a week on hybrid schedule.
· Hours that will be worked (ex. 8 am – 5pm): 8AM 5PM
· Will be in the field / Onsite.
· Travel may be required with a personal vehicle and will be reimbursed at the federal rate.
· M-F, 8hr days, Full-time, OT is approved.

The Damage Prevention Construction Inspector position monitors locating tickets and work items based on historical damage data. Maintains high level of communication with high-risk excavators/contractors to ensure quality control and compliance for projects working within proximity of existing plant. Assist CMs in job responsibilities; includes time both in the office as well as out in the field.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee, inspect, and monitor high-risk excavations taking place near facilities which include directional boring, placement of mast arms, utility pole placement and fiber cable installation.
- Advise high-risk excavator’s/contractors of safe digging practices to ensure Existing facilities remain operational and damage free; ensures adherence to 811 safe digging procedures.
- On site coverage of the metro areas as follows (Miami and Broward 2x per week, Palm Beach County 1x per week)
- Field visit minimum of 10 active jobsites daily, while documenting daily field visits, locate tickets #’s/work items, etc.
- Provide live field assistance when contractors have concerns about U/g Plant
- Upload and document all field meet with photos providing detailed account of each meet.
- Monitors locate database (Utilisphere) and identify areas of high-risk excavation to plant via risk score.
- Hold meetings with utilities (FPL, AT&T, Verizon, Comcast etc.) to identify new builds that pose a threat to infrastructure.
Education/Certifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Two (2) year technical degree preferred
- A valid driver’s license required
Experience/Minimum Requirements:
- Two (2) + years of related experience
- 3 skills/knowledge the candidate must have to be considered for the role: Extensive locate experience, experience with the installation of Underground/Aerial fiber, 811/Damage prevention knowledge, Splicing experience.
- Needs to know how to operate a Locate transmitter/receiver, has to have experience with Sonding or directional drill .
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of 811 safe digging procedures
- Knowledge of 811 ticketing process, member codes, and 811 positive response types
- Knowledge of U/G locating and underground construction process
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to direct and diagnose workflow problems, critical paths and institute remedies
