Job description

Ingredion is hiring a Dairy Food Technologist to provide technical support and expertise to customers for a broad range of food & beverage applications. The Food Technologist will support our Eastern Region and National Accounts team in the US/Canada region, in new product development and creating customer valued solutions. The Food Technologist will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab bench top scale utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices. They will also perform research related duties as needed or assigned, support internal and external customer request; execute on analytical testing as well as document and prepare technical reports with guidance from manager.
As a Senior Technologist, your responsibilities will include

  • Understanding packaged food markets and trends in different application segments.
  • Understanding internal and external customers' technical needs and supports Go-To-Market teams.
  • Leading and supporting prototype development & application tests.
  • Supporting Customer & Business Development projects and initiatives
  • Learning, utilizing, and strengthening understanding of the function of our products and how they interact with other ingredients in a range of applications.
  • Responding to customer needs; proactively in seeking external knowledge to improve own understanding and work output. Generate and makes valuable data available to others. Identify formulation challenges, solve problems, and develop new, innovative ideas.
  • Utilizing project management skills to manage and prioritize work, executing work packages & project plans according to shifting goals to align with business needs. Understands project priorities and workload to balance multiple demands and deliver projects on time.
  • Bringing new technologies and solutions to customers by connecting and collaborating with internal and external customers.
  • Relationships and People.
  • Collaborating closely with our Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Global Applications teams as well as with individuals on our CSPI Team.
  • Collaborating directly with customers via phone, face-to-face meetings, presentations, and at trade shows to develop new and creative food concepts, solutions, and product introductions.

Qualified Candidates will have
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related scientific field with 3+ years of product development experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of dairy and alternative dairy and/or sweeteners applications.
  • Laboratory pilot plant & bench top experience in a research food laboratory/product development environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions such as starches, hydrocolloids, fats, proteins etc., is a plus.
  • Ability to formulate products across a range of food categories.
  • Experience supporting customers with technical solutions is a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required for formulation development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive technical reports and deliver technical presentations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
