Schedule
Full Time Evenings 11:30am-8pm
Under the direct supervision of anatomical pathology management, retrieves and accessions anatomic pathology specimens. Prepares fluid and tissue specimens for evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieves surgical pathology and cytology specimens from designated locations.
- Performed specimen registrations to include patient demographics and insurance.
- Accessions cytopathology and/or surgical pathology specimens.
- Checks accuracy of specimen labeling; identifies and initiates steps to resolve discrepancies.
- Answers phones and responds to customer inquiries and requests.
- Assist with staining of frozen sections and use of Faxitron.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Experience: One year of laboratory experience is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Effective verbal and communication skills required.
