Job Description:
The Cybersecurity Analyst Intern role will be focused on the maintaining security configuration of dedicated security infrastructure as well as security configuration embedded in operating systems, applications, and middleware. They are responsible to deploy and support information and systems protections across networks, servers, desktops, and cloud infrastructure. Cybersecurity Analysts will work with more senior technical persons and management to ensure that security configurations and processes are adequate to identify risks, protect assets, detect threats, respond to attacks, and recover from cyber security events. The associate engineer will manage incidents and resolve problems related to information security configuration and will often execute moves, adds and changes to a diverse catalogue of information security tools and platforms.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain working knowledge of technical security configuration, deploy new configurations and monitor for unexpected changes to configurations.
  • Install and use security software on networks, servers, and endpoints and analyze and resolve errors and issues.
  • Operate security consoles and dashboards; take action to recognize and respond to events, threats, incidents, and policy non-compliance.
  • Maintain documented operating procedures, execute operating procedures and utilize workflows and ticketing systems to request and document the fulfillment of work across the organization.
  • Collect, analyze and report security metrics on a routine basis. Recommend changes and enhancements that improve security posture for the organization.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Internship is not eligible for sponsorship
  • Field of study relevant to role
  • Ability to work approximately 10 weeks over summer months
  • Ability to work remotely and in-person
  • Demonstrated learning agility, willingness to proactively take on new experiences and then apply that learning to perform successfully in new situations.
  • Proven track record as a member of or contributor to operational teams and processes, excelling at learning and managing multiple technologies.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Basic understanding of security concepts, networking concepts, web related technologies, virtualization, software defined networking and cloud application architectures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internships or job exposure to infrastructure security software and support of security tools applied to networks, servers, endpoints and cloud security configuration.
  • Up-to-date experience with information security tools, service desk software, and typical business technologies such as Office 365 or other SaaS business solutions.
  • Exposure to multiple security disciplines and technologies including Windows, Unix, Linux, data protections, endpoint controls, databases, wireless security and networking protocols, user access management, vulnerability management, patching tools, risk and compliance.
  • Formal education, certifications and training courses which include aspects of technology systems, IT security controls and information protection frameworks and standards.

Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.
